As this is the second time you have provided fantastic background, ambiance and party music at one of our children's wedding, it is difficult to "top" my first letter of praise and gratitude to you!
So please indulge me if I repeat myself in pointing out how much we appreciate the fact that you "listen" to what your client wants at their function and give them exactly what they require to make them feel comfortable with the occassion! Because music is such a personal matter, it is therefore so important that it is according to the likes and tastes of the client. I have said before that, to us it is so important that during the wedding meal, guests are able to speak and hear oneanother, rather than having to shout or not speak to oneanother, and you have the art of providing that soft yet festive background, which creates the ambiance needed.
Once again a big Thank You for a great evening!
A special mention has to be made for coming to our rescue regarding the lighting up the draping, which was "supposed" to be covered by fairylights but because the suppliers to the decorator had "forgotten" the fairylights, was just an uninteresting white drape! You quickly organised two upshiners for me very willingly and, at least this created a much better background for the speakers and bridal table for the evening. Thank You Mac!!

Being from Australia and having our wedding in South Africa, proved to be quite a challenge. We came across SoundFX during the hours we spent on the Internet and was immediately impressed by what we saw... Mac's professional approach and personable demeanour gave us peace of mind that we chose the right service provider. Upon our arrival in South Africa, we initially had a lighting meeting to discuss enhancing the venues mood. This aspect proved to be a knock-out! Another meeting was arranged to discuss the evening e.g. order of events, speeches, mood music during dinner, party music and special moments like the first dance, father-daughter dance and the throwing of the bouquet and garter.
Upon arrival at the venue, I immediately noticed the difference uplighting (and lights on the bannister) made and the sound quality during the whole night was excellent. Speeches were made with the aid of a cordless microphone... Party music was well chosen to accommodate all ages and different styles of dancing and a good time was had by all. From the onset Mac was thoroughly professional and I was immediately impressed by the amount of effort and detail that he went into to make sure all ran perfectly. I thought it was great to have the personal meeting and apart from a professional approach, Mac is also a great host and made us feel very relaxed about our choices and gave us some invaluable advice based on years of successful service in the industry.
We could not have asked for anything more in terms of service and for our purposes, the equipment was ideal. The set-up was slick and professional and the the positioning of the speakers and lighting totally complementary to the evening. Mac was an expert in making sure that he was totally aware of all proceeding and timings and fulfilled his role perfectly... in fact helped steer the ship. What was also great is how he kept the evening flowing.
With so many different age groups at a wedding it is hard to get this right and Mac did excellently, not only did his choice of music get everyone onto the dance floor it also catered for everyone's wants at different stages of the evening. He was also great at dealing with many strange and untimely requests and certainly did his best to accommodate all.
A magnificent evening was had by all and the large majority of the guests spent large portions of their time on the dance floor - Bride and Groom leading the charge. There have been nothing but very positive remarks from all generations about the disco.
Other comments: It is one thing to do your job well - it is another to go the extra mile and with Mac we always got that from day one! He is totally enthusiastic about what he does and in tune with the occasion. We would recommend him for any special occasion you have in mind and can confidently state you will get top class service. Firstly, I would like to make mention of how easy and comfortable it was to deal with you, regarding the booking and information on the services which you provide. The quick, efficient and friendly communication I received, instilled the confidence that we had chosen the right person for this function. Needless to say, coping with distances between everyone concerned, Sandton, London and Stellenbosch, was no mean feat, but I felt throughout the planning that you had everything under control.
My little e-mails to you regarding requests for the evening, my concern about the music being too loud, or the music being " too way out", were all met with calm assurance of proffesionalism and my concerns proved to be worthless on the evening. You played exceptional music, not only at the reception, but your music in the Chapel before and after the ceremony, was beautiful. Our guests repeatedly commented on how enjoyable the music played was, from a delightful mix of soothing Jazz, some, more romantic and tasteful background music with a wonderful selection of good dancing and party music after dinner.
We are also delighted that we decided to go with your " Ambient lighting". The reception being held in " The Old Maturation Cellar" at Morgenhof, created the perfect setting for the soft, warm uplighters on the walls, which made the chandeliers and wooden ceiling beams come to life. The colour of the lighting enhanced the colour theme of the decor and everything just blended together to give us our perfect celebration.
Thank you once again, Mac, for your happy and friendly service and presence at our function and we would be more than happy to chat to anyone who may need reassurance about whether or not to book Sound FX for any of their functions. This past six months since or wedding has simply flown past and it is with some shame that I have to admit that I just haven't had the time to write to you. A written: THANK YOU SO MUCH is certainly not all that you deserve:
As you would recall we met whilst I was the Asst. General Manager of Protea Hotel Devon Valley in Stellenbosch. I must say during my time there I worked with a number of DJ's on various functions on a weekly basis and from our first encounter it was obvious that your talent is certainly in a class of its own. Honestly I don't think that there's any other DJ that can even come close. With this in mind Anneri & I booked you for our special day at Morgenhof in July 04.
Now I'm sure that you'll agree that I must be one of the most demanding and difficult guys you've ever played for. Being in the guest service industry myself I had extremely high expectations for all the service providers. I had a number of unwavering demands, which ranged from exact songs at exact times, through exact announcements at exact times to a list of songs that may not be played, even if guests requested them.
From the day I asked you to quote for our wedding to our last goodbye before leaving the venue, your friendly efficient and extremely professional service struck me as phenomenal. Not only did you know the venue well and could thus recommend lights & effects, but your calm confidence about everything certainly took a huge weight off our shoulders. I'm not sure that many people realize that the DJ at any function can make or break the event. It doesn't matter what the venue, flowers or anything else looks like - if the music / entertainment is bad, guests will eat, shake your hand and go. However at our function you managed to keep everyone on the dance floor having the time of their lives until the last minute. Almost every guest of ours complimented us on our outstanding choice of DJ afterwards !! What more can I say, we had extremely high expectations and your exceeded them all! You made it a night for all to remember.
I will be taking over as General Manager of a northern Cape Premier Protea Hotel at the end of the month. But when I return to the Cape in about three years you will certainly still be on top of my recommendations list to prospective bridal couples.
